Torture isn't rehabilitation. It doesn't allow for the prisoners to move past mistakes and become a productive member of society again.

Solitary confinement is torture. It is designed to be torturous. It is not designed to rehabilitate, help or show them the right way to behave.

Go look up some information on false accusations and imprisonments and see how easily it can happen. Solitary confinement =/= rapists, child molesters, and murderers.

Inform yourself before you speak.

I have been in worse than solitary confinement, it's called observation. I spend only a few days in it without food or water. If that is not torture then let me do it to you and see what you say. I have a solid psyche and a healthy body they do it knowingly to feed of you like predators do to prey. Luckily I railed all the guards with psychological warfare. This is NO myth this IS torture.

Sadly, some people live better lives in prisons than outside of prisons. For example, the homeless - struggling to find food, water and even shelter. Denied the basic life needs. While prisoners, they get warm meals, a bed, sunlight for an hour a day, etc.
