It's mostly a practice thing. It took me a few tries to get to the end of the first area, but once you get the physics down, it isnt that bad unless the game screws you over.

imagene if it was like metroid when you beat the game and then no death jump but still have puzzles they could do that today

No, they do have to be a certain distance from you.. not too far

Wow. You have a really bad rom. Also, I think the ghosts don't have to be close, you just have to use the gun while they're on screen to kill them.
