Diabetes is something to overcome. Sure its a pain to watch what you eat and drink, but you can do it. Don't let it rule your life, its only has hard as you make it. My Mom was insulin dependent and had a very full life.

My nephew is three years old and has an insulin pump too. This gives me hope that he can serve a mission. My son who is on a mission had a companion with epilepsy which gave my son more empathy and an increased capacity to serve and love others.

I have had diabetes since I was 2 years old, and I chose not to serve a mission. I also have suffered from years of depression, and feeling like I'm not good enough because of my diabetes. I used to question whether God really loved me, and I often felt that I had no place in the church because I am still single. I decided to do a service mission because my patriarchal blessing said I needed to do genealogy, and I have met someone amazing as a result. I just needed to have faith all along.
