Artist Bio:
A "painter's painter," artist Donato Giancola has been creating award-winning drawings and oil paintings in the classical realism and science-fiction and fantasy fields for twenty years. His resume lists an impressive number of honors: multiple Gold and Silver awards from Spectrum: The Best in Science Fiction & Fantasy Art, multiple Hugos, multiple Chesleys, and multiple honors from the Society of Illustrators. Donato teaches at the School of Visual Arts and the Illustration Master Class. His paintings can be seen at the Richard J. Demato Fine Arts Gallery in Sag Harbor, New York.

//

"It's difficult to talk about the art of Donato Giancola and remain objective. Despite the best intentions to be analytical and coldly disaffected when standing in front of his art...it is simply not possible. There is so much passion, so much depth, and so much truth in Donato's paintings that the viewer can't help but get caught up in the stories his works tell. Simply put, among contemporary narrative artists, Donato Giancola is a master. Watching him paint "Joan of Arc" merely drives home that fact."

  • Whats the point of that stupid effect that covers the whole image with a semi transparent rainbow?? Nice video, except for that

  • @Givicencio The effect is supposed to be reminiscent of flames, which is symbolic of Joan being burned at the stake for her beliefs.

  • The music was quite nice, but I'd rather've heard what the artist was saying.

  • @wryone will consider making a talking trailer. this one is more for enjoyment and inspiration.

  • @PijjenMedia Does he cover the photography and editing stage?

    by the way, I cannot THANK you so much for making this. He is such a great artist but most of all a humble person. Extremely inspiring. Thank you.

    Luca

  • @lucaddragon The photo shoot itself isn't covered, but there is a section that shows him going through all the photos he took, and his thought process for picking and choosing the best parts of those photos.

  • damn.. i lov that man, please TEACH ME DUDE!

  • @PijjenMedia 3:46 are you teaching us how to milk a cow too? on a serious note, I'm wondering if the DVD comes with a Digital Copy of the painting for inspection for the viewer when they're done watching.

  • Donato Giancola is one of my idols, so this video is like Christmas and my birthday together. Excellent job on the cinematography as well. It is hard to adequately show the beauty in the love that an artist feels for his art.

  • Remove the music please...otherwise gorgeous!!!!

  • mmmmm...... The Angle of Paint Brush
