The song "Wish me luck as you wave me goobye" was featured in the 1939 picture "Shipyard Sally", which starred Britain's nr 1 female artist : Gracie Fields or "our Gracie" as she was commonly known...
The year of its release being 1939, the song soon got a special meaning and remains closely associated with the early days of the Second World War.

In France the song became known as "Souris-moi et dis- moi Bonne Chance" and was recorded by Lucienne Delyle.
Billy Cotton (1899-1969) was a succesful band leader and race car driver who - from the 1950s onwards - also hosted his own shows on both BBC radio and television... Famous musicians in his band include Nat Gonella....

Nice version of this classic song by Billy Cotton very nice although the song belongs to Gracie, its nice to hear this superb version. I wonder what other dancebands covered this and other Gracie Songs. thanks for this the scenery is brill.
