The song "Wish me luck as you wave me goobye" was featured in the 1939 picture "Shipyard Sally", which starred Britain's nr 1 female artist : Gracie Fields or "our Gracie" as she was commonly known...
The year of its release being 1939, the song soon got a special meaning and remains closely associated with the early days of the Second World War.

In France the song became known as "Souris-moi et dis- moi Bonne Chance" and was recorded by Lucienne Delyle.
Billy Cotton (1899-1969) was a succesful band leader and race car driver who - from the 1950s onwards - also hosted his own shows on both BBC radio and television... Famous musicians in his band include Nat Gonella....

  • Nice version of this classic song by Billy Cotton very nice although the song belongs to Gracie, its nice to hear this superb version. I wonder what other dancebands covered this and other Gracie Songs. thanks for this the scenery is brill.
