I Sure some one else has brought this up but Apple tried a gaming console the Apple Bandai Pippin. So I dont think they would make a home console again but you never know, But my money is on Nintendo and I have a 3ds.

You have to applaud Nintendo for surviving as a gaming company for the very first generation of gaming. They have had a console for every generation:
1st - Color TV Game
2nd - Game and Watch + many arcade machines (yes no home console but there was still hardware)
3rd - NES
4th - SNES
5th - N64
6th - GameCube
7th - Wii
8th - Wii U
Even if they do eventually stop making there own hardware, they'll still be an important part of gaming history.
