I dunked my Dual Drive by riding it through a flooded intersection having flowing water above the bottom bracket. Don't do that!

SRAM says: (1) If water gets in, hub can be opened and drained without de-spoking the hub: Remove cap on axle end opposite the cogs. (2) Use a few drops of Tri-Flow oil to relubricate and see how that works.

That required opening the cone bearings, so I took it all apart and found I had rust inside. Cleaned, oiled and greased the parts, put it back together, and now it's OK!

  • Would that it were as easy as removing my Ridazz spoke cards! It turned out to be:

    * That I dunked it 200 miles prior. This started rust inside the hub gear.

    * That an easy drain and oiling might have stopped the rust and chirp [as recommended by SRAM]

    * That disassembly, cleaning, applying new oil and grease did stopped the chirp [I wanted to see inside]

It works as smooth and quiet as new since the work was done about 100 miles ago.

  • you should dismantle the bike on a year or 2 year basis and lube it all up

(that is if your a serious biker ) if not then do it every 3-4 years

  • Remove the cards from the spokes on the wheel, even thoug they look cool (as they do), they can generate weard noyse and the added wigth to the wheel (even tough minimal) is not the thing you want. Weigth on the spinnig wheel multiplayes when the wheel spinns. So thats also probebly why some choose tubles tires (yes also to bikes).

  • Ridazz!

  • You don't want our help, reach Dahon.

  • maybe its the postcards in your spokes
