@grabit1 Yes, an actress of great integrity and versatility- so WHY didn't she ever get an Oscar????
-
@cockwiper No. No, I don't think so. Maybe you need to go instead, if you're serious.
-
@TheLadyEveSidwich No knock on Martha Tilton, but Babs could have done this all by herself. Yes, the "powers that be," but Sam Goldwyn gets a break because his films were so good. Even if he should have just let Babs sing.

@cockwiper well thats mean. and with a username like cockwiper i dont think anyone will listen or care about your opinion.

fucking old ass movies need to go

@crgaillee Barbara has sung in other movies but not here.

"Ball of Fire" is one of my most favorite Stanwyck films...and one of the few B/W films I could see in color, if only to see that dress in full color! My one complaint...are they really trying to convince me that Gary Cooper is a nerd? That's like trying to convince me that Charlton Heston is a Mexican. :)

Stanwyck could do almost anything. Her gifts bordered on the supernatural.

Barbara Stanwyck is MY FAVORITE ACTRESS. I <3 her so much! However, this is in fact dubbed. Her own voice can be heard in "Lady of Burlesque," "Banjo on My Knee," and "The Purchase Price." Her singing voice was much deeper than this, and she was no slouch at singing; however, according to the book "Starring Miss Barbara Stanwyck" the powers that be decided to dub her singing for this film.

@TheLadyEveSidwich Thanks for this info. The question comes up here again and again, as you can see. I hope the matter is settled for now.
