@jawanjay The name is al3oud in the Moroccan language, you can prnounce it as oud. This intsrument is a pure Moroccan(North Afrcan instrument) it has nothing to do with Arabs, Israel or Turks. Its a decedent of ancient intsrument of the berbers. berbers(Moroccans) introduced this instrument in the ISLAMIC world and not ARAB world. Today many other Middle eastern countries use this instrument. But its ORIGIN is North Africa and mainly in countries like Morocco, Algeria and tunis.
Glad to see Omar progressing to compositions with a beat. His Father the great Mounir was a personal friend of mine, and I once lunched with Omar and his Mother Om Saad at my Aunts.
Greats such as Jamil and Mounir Bashir and their offshoot Omar, Nassir Shamma and others influenced by the school of Sherif Muhyiddine Haydar have exhausted Taqassim (improvisations)...time Arabs moved on to compositions and anything WITH A BEAT... way to go Omar
The audio cuts out at around 2:00. Any chance of reposting with fixed audio?
Thanks!
