social security is no longer security for elderly. now ss houses the invalids, mental invalids, workers comp... all these fall under ss.
we don't need to fix ss, it's a socialist program. we need to phase it out over 30 years. we need to educate people on building their own retirement, and not depend on government to take care of them in retirement. the more we place our lives in the government's hands, the more they power it will take. it's like the blob, it feeds off it.

This should be no suprise to republicans. They should know by now that McCain is liberal & has no problem pushing liberal ideas. If the forcing of illegal amnesty down our throats wasnt enough for conservatives to keep McCain off the ticket then a tax increase shouldnt be a jolt. What do they think McCains carbon tax and trade is? It is a TAX. Yet when this plan was announced it went right over many republicans heads. Too concerned about No Obama to pay attention the wolf in their own back yard!
