old style winter stick maybe-4x4 post to mark mooring anchor will slide under ice so the mooring doesn't drag out of position as ice moves. In the spring they are often neutral buoyant and even harder to see

I'd like to thank the sailor for his personal sacrifice in the making of this fascinating and instructive piece of video. The odds against this happening are already a zillion to one, and then to get it on video is unbelievable. Sure glad no one was seriously hurt. Sail fast, keep safe.
