Movie text:
Hello, my name is Wessel Meijer. I am from Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
With this movie I want to show you my plan for the large scale production of durable and clean energy.

Transportation of fresh water is the most important part of the plan. I would like to see a fresh water pipeline that runs from northern Europe to north-west Africa, into the Sahara desert.

Oil and gas is already being transported over thousands of kilometers, so transporting fresh water over such distances should be a piece of cake.

With plenty of fresh water we can plant forests and other plants in Spain and in the Sahara.
Trees and plants grow on C O 2, so large forests will absorb large amounts of C O 2. Large forests will produce wood and clean air in return. Large forests in the south will have a stabilizing effect on the climate too.

Secondly we are going to grow sugarcane and corn for the production of ethanol. Ethanol is very suitable for driving your car.

Thirdly we are going to place enormous amounts of solar cells in the Sahara to produce electricity. With electricity we can split water into hydrogen which is also very suitable for driving your car.

The great fresh water buffer lakes in Spain and in other countries could be used to grow fish. The buffer lakes will also provide a great place for birds to rest and eat on their trips from north to south.

Of course the transportation of water is as much as possible powered by wind energy, bio energy or if necessary even by oil energy, because we have to do whatever it takes to get the water over there and to start up the biggest ecological energy production plan ever. There are so much ecological, economical, social and environmental benefits to this plan, it will give us the common goal we are looking for. It will bring cultures together for a mutual interest. It will keep us busy for 10 to 30 years.

So what are we waiting for? Lets do it!

Please forward this movie and text to as much people you know.

Thank you!

  • Waaaa Cool looking idea Kind Sir!

Its not impossible .. just highly improbable. I think it has a very very good potential. All the best with its development!

  • Dear waterboatguy, thanks for your interest and compliments. A man on the moon and unmanned visits to Mars were more improbable (unlikely) to happen than a pipeline of 2500 Km.

Please consider the facts about the gigantic oil and gas pipeline networks of thousands of Kilometers already in operation. The first major water pipe line was built in Australia the 530 Km Goldfields Water Supply Scheme managed by Mr. O'Connor. Commissioned in 1896 completed in 1903 and still in operation! Google it!

  • Wessel, wat is dit nu weer?

You'd like to transport water from our country (Holland) to e.g. Spain? So they can grow crops in e.g. Spain with our water and plenty of free sun which we have considerably less of with the result that we can forget about our entire greenhouse/farming industries?

Why do I hear nothing about charging for about the only resource we have?

Your plan does include water-PRICES, or not??. Or is this some left wing, lets give our water away for free idea?

  • @Efteling4Ever: my plan is not left- or right wing, its from my wing (carried by practical common sense) and I did not say anywhere everything will be for free. Water can be exchanged for solar- and/or hydroelectric power. Reforesting in the south can compensate CO2 emissions and restore natural balance. Please read the written plan too. You will find it in the written text that goes with the video.

  • Water can also be exchanged for electric energy and water storage services.

  • In stead of pumping sweet water in to the sea we can trade it whith Africa. So it can bring money instead of being spilled. Good idea. Succes.

  • Yes, why not !

  • Thanks x1600meterman, spread the word I would say.

  • sounds like a good plan

  • Dear Roadtotom, thanks for your interest. I fully agree that the European Union should start this project; that's where the EU is for. I am quite optimistic as local solutions are not as effective and in most cases (partly) funded by the EU. Economic forces are strong and in favor of my plan, I am 100% sure of that. On top of that, I am coming from the oil business schooled by Texas oil companies; I know how to be persistent!
