  • Yes, most hornworms as well as silk moth larvae, will change color and stop eating, when ready to pupate.

  • M'am, those are NOT tobacco worms. I am convinced those are rustic sphinx cats. I could tell if you have something to scale. Tobacco worms have red horns, white true legs and always some black in their wrinkles.

    I hope they finished okay and are overwintering as pupae. The rustics are at least 1/3 larger than other hornworms. Always feed the same plant or species to any caterpillar taken indoors.

  • Hi. You can call me Des. Sounds like "mess". Lovely set ups. I'm glad my videos helped you. I can't find yogurt cups with lids anymore, I guess you had the same problem. I'm going to have to switch over to the ones you use. As long as I don't break my old ones I should be ok. I've never seen a hornworm that got so much brown pattern on its back before it changed. Very unusual. Because of the word limit I'll send you a PM.
