  • @danelf111 Actually, you don't have a right, because this isn't a matter of opinion. This is something that is either factual, or not. You can indeed grab sharpened blades with your bare hands. Like I said, check out some John Clements videos where he shows himself holding a sharpened blade with his bare hands, and isn't cut by it.

I'll even give you a link to the video.

So please; watch your language, and do some research before you comment the way you did.

  • @danelf111 Have you ever heard of a ricasso? Its the part of the blade on a knife or sword, right above the hilt and it can be left unsharpened, allowing the welder to use a technique called half-swording. You'll find this one a great many styles of sword.

  • Flaming arrows are my favourite

  • mike loades is such a boss

  • @MrBagginsEsq True, hand to hand and melee combat were even a large part of warfare in WW 1 , there were many weapons used in trench warfare that resembled those of the middle ages. Conquest had an episode that touched on them.

  • @GadgetMart Please Read Murphy's laws of combat "If it's Stupid but works, It isn't Stupid."

  • @GadgetMart thats how old master taught it, basically if your dead you dont get to keep teaching or winning fights, hell fiore even has him throwing pepper into his opponents eyes :p

  • Ok well all the medieval masters like Liechtenauer, Fiore, and talhoffer were idiots then eh? Because they ALL teach the standard technique of grabbing the blade to halfsword.

And yes you can do so with a sharp blade.

  • 2 things struck me as stupid on this demonstration too, I wasn't happy with letting go of the sword hilt and holdind the blade - struck me as rather stupid, also when Mike was duelling with 2 leathal swords or sword and main gauche he resorted to kicks and knees to win the battle.

  • There is nothing wrong with grabbing a blade like that, as long as it does not slide in your hands. A firm grasp is enough to prevent it.

  • There was no reason to sharpen the sword in full lengh. You needed only 1/3 of the blade sharp witch has most momentum for cutting. So grappin a not sharp part of the sword to halfsword is nothing spetial. I have a german longsword 2kg 1,4 m its not sharpened cause of sparing reasons, but that sword can do some serious dmg. And sekond the sharper the sword the easyer it will have its edge damaged. Cavalery didnt some times sharpen theyre sabers they didnt have to, the dull sabers did brake skulls.

  • Until the machine gun hand to hand combat still greatly existed!
