they are called rock wagons. they have a low center of gravity for rough off road use

they used some like this in copperhill tn in the copper mines but the dinit have a roof over the cab ive only seen a pic of onecause ther still in the mines along with water

These were referred to as "Rockers" The cables are to limit how far the bed will dump.

we have alot of these at mines and gravel pits here in cali.CAt built and sold them for a short time when they were in "high" demand

It was back in the 1960s where Athey had these rear dumps for Cat prime movers be it the 621 here or the larger 660
