hi, you probably saw the video answer to your "more hot spots" - but it was very dark, so it was not very fair answer and i was still very worried about the place, so i went there in the daytime today and made a measurement. i got over 1.0 more microsieverts, but it went down soon, even i changed the place and was looking for the hot-spot as you taught me yesterday, i did not get the high level as you did (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtrsQMlaY4E&NR=1 ). maybe it depends on the time, or geiger - type..no idea. i would be very happy, if somebody could explain, why is the radiation on the ground high one day and then you can not find anything, or just relatively low levels next day....

  • @laskavy spasiba!

  • @marianka1980 this one is OK terra_new from ecotest

I own older terra (without bluetooth), used forum.pripyat.com to compare and choose.

  • @joelb79 thank you!

  • @marianka1980 The Radex is great! Very accurate, can't think of a device that does more that is smaller. They get great reviews online and are super hard to find right now. Keep it.

  • @joelb79 thanks! what do you think about radex?

  • I think the appeal to analog is that they survive nuclear war and are easily user repairable with easy to find parts. you can usually add on digital capability using headphone outputs.

  • @marianka1980 A good meter that a lot of scientific laboratories and first responders use in USA to measure contamination of surfaces usually has a pancake type geiger with some form of alpha radiation block. Handheld wise, a RadAlert 100 is a good one, but if you want to be really definitive it is good to measure most places trust a Ludlum Model 3 with a 44-9 Geiger Probe. I myself am using a CDV-700 and will need to get a replacement probe (cdv-700rp) to correctly measure surface contamination

  • @joelb79 thank you. do you know any good professional geiger type? honestly, i am not very sure, about the quality of this small personal geiger counters. how much can we trust them? even the prices got quite high now, they are originally not expensive small toy-meters...

  • Your Radex 1503 is a higher quality meter that reads much broader range of radiation types with higher accuracy. You also have increased surface area for detection. The dp802i looks to be a gamma/x-ray only device, and boasts a ≤±30% energy response error curve. I would say that perhaps there is a great deal of meter exageration with the other persons readings. Also keep in mind half-life, perhaps the area has decayed some, as well as washed down the drain more, not to discredit the other meter.

  • @mike2011ca not he usual accessory to have around the house, in Japan ;-]
