@NordenzurZukunft Yes. And it still does not breathe as well. There is only one situation in which I would chose Gore-Tex over Neoshell or eVent --- low temperature and high wind.... I was on Mount Washington in -20C with 60mph (95kmph) sustained winds and gusts of 85mph (135kmph) and the breeze cutting through the eVent jacket was felt, and it was chilly. The wind chill index -60F. In this situation, the complete windproofness of Gore-Tex would have been nice.
To JohnTYoung - you have clearly drunk the Gore-Tex Kool-Aid. Anyone who's worn eVent fabric and the new Polartec Neoshell can tell you that the fabric is as waterproof as it needs to be for a torrential downpour even while wearing a pack. PU doesn't have the inherent hydrophobic properties of ePTFE (eVent), but it'll be interesting to see how the fabric performs in the long term. In my book, eVent is still the proven leader, and it far outperforms anything from Gore.
active shell vs neoshell would be an interesting comparison. Or better yet, Gore ActiveShell, MH Dry.Q Elite, and eVent.... :)

@freemusicblogg Except Neoshell IS waterproof

So Polartec is more breathable than Gore-Tex?

@JohnTYoung This test shows breathability, not waterproofness!

@hopevalleydan
he means to show the higher hydrostatic head of the goretex

why do you need to pressurise the water?

Now pressurize the water side and see who leaks first please.
