This is a rare arrangement, I found it in a leather suitcase, it was given me by the Widow of Clarrie Simmons, Pianist and Leader of the SS Rawalpindi Orchestra, a P.O liner on the Indian Ocean run.
I ended up with about 500 Orchestrations, there were seven suitcases in all, covered in Steamer tickets and Grand Hotel Colombo,Taj Mahal Hotel Stickers.
Al Bowley recorded this one as did Sophie Tucker and Believe it or not, Lawrence Welk in 1931.
I hope you get a kick out of it. See Also www.cairocluborchestra.com
Cheers.
sophie tucker also does a great job with this song around 1930

Since making whoopee became all the rage
It's even got to the old birdcage
My canary has circles under his eyes
He used to whistle The Prisoner's Song
Now he does snake-hips the whole day long
My poor canary has circles under his eyes
