This futuristic and expensive multi-hull catamaran was no match for the San Francisco Bay.
The choppy waters capsized the Oracle racing team's vessel Monday.
The sailors were practicing publicly for the first time on their home waters with their new AC45 class boats when the vessel tipped over.
One crewman suffered a minor rib injury and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The team was out on the water to draw attention to the 2013 America's Cup.

you guys are all wrong, When that happens its called pitchpole....it happens all the time to catermerans when they submarine the low hull, if it subs to fast the pontoon dives hard, nose down and the end result is as the video shows. I have done the same on a Hobie 16 twice, both times just sent me flying, search pitch pole there are lots of videos, and don't confuse this with capsizing while pointing into the wind, these are very different issues

@MRM0RT0N The wingsail of the AC72 looks to be about 4 times the area of an AC45's. And the Hulls on the AC72 will be 27 feet longer.

The crazy thing is that they are working on an ac72, which has a wing that is almost twic e as big, but about the same sized hull 0.0
