3D may still by the buzz word when it comes to TVs at the moment, but if LG's 31 inch prototype model is anything to go by, the future of flatscreen televisions really lies in OLED technology.

At 31 inches in size, it's the worlds biggest OLED screen, and, at 2.9mm thick, the slimmest too. Colour reproduction is stunning on the 31 inch display with no bleeding across tones, and as OLED pixels generate their own light, incredible black levels are also possible.

We were already sold on the panel's 2D skills, but add in its impressive 3D abilities too and LG seem to have pretty much every base covered.

LG's George Mead talks us through the screen in the video. Start saving the pennies, as he reveals this one will be unleashed to the public in "the near future".

  • OLED will blow everything away. plasma, crappy LCD, projectors too.

it's superior in every way. easier to make. much lower power consumption, instant response, ultra thin. the assholes are just holding back because they are shitheads and because they know that once OLED is unleashed it will be so cheap that it will dwindle their profits. they are that level of bastards.

and oled is old. as old as LCD. but the morons chose to develop crappy LCD..

eventually we will have large screen OLED rolls

  • Damn, that would make a nice computer monitor.

  • I wanted to thank you for this great channel! I definitely enjoying every little bit of it.

  • @EpiclsME are you satisfied by cave paintings and freezing to death in winter..

  • @DanFrederiksen Why do people always want better stuff? Is it impossible for you to be satisfied with what you have? Of course not.

  • @CrackerJayherber Actually, they already showcased some super flexible OLED screens at CES 2011. It's literally a "sheet of screen". But of course they were just prototypes, we probably won't see 'em on the market 'till 2017 or something. lol

  • one day they'll have a screen you can un roll just like a fruit roll up

  • @gytis156 oled monitors are out, igot one its awesome ;P

  • Koreans are best cause Samsung and Lg are the best electronics

    plus im korean

  • @DanFrederiksen i cant see big difference between LCD and plasma, plasma just cost less, but uses more energy. Of course OLED is amazing, but OLED is only dream for me to have it, maybe in 10 years ill get it..

  • @gytis156 I didn't say plasma was great but I wouldn't say LCD is better than plasma. LCD is fundamentally flawed in that it only works with polarized light. and it's a semimechanical system which is why it's so slow and messy to respond. it's also why it has viewing angle problems. further it's obstructing so a black screen still uses as much energy as a white one. OLED can be 0.1mm thick and have response time in the microsecond range. not tens of milliseconds. LCD was a massive mistake.

  • @DanFrederiksen why u say that LCD is crappy, its better than plasma
