@drifteromega All jokes aside, without being bias, none of the legends were crazy about his music, i would be the first to give credit if this was really good
I don't know why everyone says Miles was the worst trumpet player. He was surely more than technically proficient. He just doesnt play like Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Donald Byrd, etc. Doesn't mean he was worse than them.
and guess what? lester didnt have a genius level impact on anything, not musical ideas or technicality im a trumpet player and i know decent improvisation and when someone is B.S.-ing. Genius doesnt only cloud the life and musicality of dizzy as a trumpeter at all. He had ALOT to do with jazz evolving but i believe clifford brown, freddie hubbard, and others can claim that title. Listen to the album first light with freddie hubbard in its entirety that is great music. miles outplays lester byfar
trumpetids... genius comes from using technique at whatever level to create good music. it should be the tool or the means... not the end or the objective. you've said it yourself... Miles was not the greatest trumpet technician but had the musical impact of a genius. Dizzy remains the only brilliant trumpeter who could claim the status of musical jazz genius
Anybody calling lester bowie a geniu is SLEEP! Miles was the greatest jazz genius but one of the worst playing trumpet-wise AMONG LEGENDS, im not saying at all he couldnt play. Lester Bowie however, was the worst horn player on a professional stage after middle and high school level performances.
i will listen again and again to the genius musicality of Lester Bowie, who i had the pleasure to see in concert twice at ronnie scotts; fantastic is understating

I think what Lester Bowie did deserves credit.
