To Boeing and Back tells the story of Evansville resident Marion Johnson, who, at the tender age of 18, boarded a bus for Seattle to find work at the Boeing aircraft factory during World War II. Despite having no factory work experience and never having left the state of Minnesota, Johnson, like many women of her era, faced down numerous challenges in order to complete the much-needed work of war time. In this short piece, she recounts, with great humor and modesty, her memories of that time.
