Well, I ran into another Gregorian Chant concert at Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, this time celebrating the upcoming assumption of the Virgin, August 15. I have to say, the organ this time around was simply bizarre - dark and loud and bizarre. I'll be posting numerous videos, you can judge for yourself.

  • lol that is funny. Yeah, my mom hated the organ, and we thought some others did too, but weren't too sure. :-)

  • The organ is beautiful, I find. Some people have to learn that the beauty of organ music can sometimes be found in dischords, in the creation of atmospheres. All three organists at Notre-Dame excell at creating the right mood for prayer and they always bear in mind the "meaning" of what they are playing and what they are playing for.

  • Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank you: I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures – I wish no more than this, O Lord. Into your hands I commend my soul; I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I love you Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands, without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.
  • @amurugasu is it ever played with the chanting?

  • Maintenant j'ai trouvé cet œvre: c'est l'antienne « O virgo splendens hic, in monte celso Miraculis serrato, fulgentibus ubique, quem fideles. … », un extrait du «Llibre Vermell [livre rouge] de Montserrat» catalan du XIVe siècle.

  • Well I am glad you brought it up in the comments. This is evil 101. It amazes me people don't see it. Haha:)

  • haha

  • very cool. Would have loved to see it.
