Usually (even with Apps2SD) you get limited app install space after install the gapps zip. This video shows how you can quickly and easily increase that (rather, what the end result is).

To simple instructions on this are simple.

You should only use this on newly installed ROMs (or one that has only been booted once since being flashed) - HTC Sense (2.3+) ROMs seem not to work with this, unless changes have been made.

Flash your ROM, let the phone boot up once completely until you are get the screen and can access the menus etc. Reboot back into recovery & apply the Data2sd installer (not the reinstaller). Reboot phone and check memory space. If it's more than the usual 180-200MB then you've succeeded. If not, check to make sure the layout of your card is correct (FAT32 first, ext3/4 at end) .

If you upgrade the ROM (say a minor upgrade) - When you flash the update, DO NOT reboot the phone just yet. Apply the Data2sd REinstaller right after. Now you can reboot.

will explain how.

I have used this on a few different ROMs and seems to work OK, although, it will clash with Apps2SD on some ROMs. This is *much* better.

Enjoy!

  • what partition fo i need on the card, also what speed should the card be

    thanks

  • @mojorichey You create your first partition being FAT32 for phone, then at the end of the memory card, a partition in ext4 (512-whatever) anything smaller would be killjoy.

Helps having a fast µsd card too!

  • You can of course make MUCH more memory available by increasing the size of the ext4 partition. Mine is only 512MB big for this.
