i think its a shock to the system how bad he is now. this is not even hard to sing. his voice has totally gone. i almost feel sorry for him, but we all need to make a pound somehow.
Yes, his voice is not what it used to be, but that shouldn't diminish the quality and artistry of his performance on the original album.
There is no doubt that his performance stands with the titans of western music--from the arias of Callas and Caruso, to the instrumental wizardry of Paganini and Yo-Yo Ma--as one of the truly great vocal feats.
Even great artists like Picasso, Stern, and Barishnikov would be hard-pressed to exactly reproduce the energy and vitality of their early work.
I liked some of 'Down to Earth'. Used to play it a lot. The stuff with Joe Lynn Turner I liked the best though.
