@disamjisa although I am not in favor of drug use. I just don't think we can argue that something is completely bad just because it's caused bad things to happen. Humans have caused mass destruction to the majority of the world. So lets kill all humans.
-
@disamjisa Also just because something is abused doesn't mean it is bad. Many things are abused, and that means the abuse itself is a negative thing. But that does not mean the substance itself is bad. One person may take a drug and have a life changing event or have the result of something happening involving the use change their life. And others may take it and kill themselves or do something stupid to kill themselves. it's not the substance it's abuse itself that is wrong.

@disamjisa You find this to be the case because you aren't involved in this world. I don't know if you use marijuana but you sound like you do so im assuming your projecting the fact that anything your involved in isn't as bad as it sounds. and alcoholics or people who think it's fine that they are regular drinkers will do the same. Some of the weakest people I've ever seen were potheads, and the same with drinking.

the MESSAGE ? .... FUCK OFF GOVERNMENT EVIL...

@justsomefellow Damn, you're smart. What TV shows have you been on? I'd like to go and listen to your reasoning!

Listen to these ignoramuses.... Buckley arrives at the right answer for wrong reasons.... they're a pair of completely deluded ignoramuses pulling ideas out of their arses about "drugs" in general as though all drugs were the same and part of one big category of evil substances. Pot is safer than alcohol. Ecstasy has also been proven safe. Cocaine and heroin are bad news. But even those substance, frankly the overwhelming majority of people who have taken them didnt develop a problem.

@Aphoresis Yes, but the neocons of today rarely present strong arguments, or even any argument at all. It's not their conclusions which offend me but the silly, impenetrable logic they follow to get there.
-
Is it possible in your mind for a Conservative to have "put some thought in it" without coming to a conclusion identical to your own?
-
A conservative grounded in reality, who doesn't presume to advocate his own moral standards for the whole of society, is a very refreshing thing to see. Most conservatives today, I would think, would almost reflexively be against the legalization of drugs; not because they had put any thought into the war on drugs as practical policy, but only because they feel that their own moral punctilios ought to be observed by everyone in the country.
Buckley RIP

@TruthWielder Anything which is abused is bad. But there is absolutely no link between marijuana and a lower IQ. Indeed, its my smartest friends, who work in law, medicine, architecture, who enjoy using, and even perhaps abusing, marijuana.
In my experience, alcohol is the drug of choice for the feckless, the unintelligent, those with character defects and weaknesses, because it allows you to numb yourself so effectively. I don't find this to be the case with marijuana.
