http://www.ibm.com/podcasts/howitworks/040207/index.shtml Smarter traffic systems create better cities. IBM helped the city of Stockholm implement a centralized system that accurately gathered commuter data from sources, such as a smart toll that read license plates, to reduce traffic congestion. As a result, traffic in Stockholm went down by 22%, air pollution was 14% better and citizens saved both time and money.
