The Petronas Twin Towers are part of a new complex, known as the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center), a 40 hectare site with a tag line that says it aims to be a city within the city. It revolves around a pretty, landscaped park and twin lakes. There is a main lake that leads onto the plaza in front of the towers that features several sets of fountains: two that are towering plumes as well as a couple of circles and curves of smaller fountains that spurt water in changing patterns and puffs, both vertically and at arching angles. The lake chases through a 50-odd-foot narrow canal under an arching footbridge that leads to a blue-tile-clad 'adventure' swimming pool that was proving very popular with the citys children during the two-day Chinese New Year holiday period. The park has been carefully sculptured, and next to the towers is the luxurious Mandarin Oriental Hotel, while just further along is the spanking new Kuala Lumpur Convention Center which chases along the border of the park and is another core component of the KLCC project which also includes restaurants, hotels, shops, an art gallery, offices, business centers and even a cinema, ballroom and aquarium.
