  • awesome! thank you :)

  • I was skeptical at first, but after winding a few skeins this way, I'm a convert. With a little practice, you can make a neat cake that almost looks machine wound. Thanks!

  • This method has produced zero tangles (for even the lumpiest of yarns), is easy to do, inexpensive and watching the yarn cakes stack up is aesthetically pleasing. Also, I started using a the handle of my egg whisk to keep from wearing out my thumb.

  • superb idea! will try it

  • haha purple thumbs.. we only like green thumbs. This video is awesome, but what if while you're doing this, the doorbell rings...???

  • Ya thanks, I have since figured out that center pull balls are amazing :D

  • because some skiens come unwound... a lot indy yarns aren't wound into balls they just come in hanks. =)

  • I don't mean to be rude but why would you want a center pull ball if you can manage to fish the center out of the skien?

  • Great video. Very clear and well explained.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks! I was looking for a way to do this without expensive equipment.
