Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping Protesting at NYC Disney Store

These very enthusiastic people started protesting at the Disney store on 8/29/09 in New York. They were trying to get people to not purchase any Disney products because they believe that they are made in sweatshops by under-aged and under-paid workers. To top it off, Reverend Billy claimed that he is running for mayor of N.Y.!! He founded Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping! Anyone heard of him or seen him before? Apparently he has been quite busy for the last few years according to Wikipedia.

What people don't understand is that the reason why children go to these sweatshops is because it's where they get the money they need. Other jobs don't pay nearly as much and they're just as bad.

@AngelJD His public speaking skills are irrelevant. Many products/parts are made in China and Disney has been formally linked to suppliers with horrible labor conditions. Instead of starting to think whether you could spend 5 c more on a product so that the humans producing it can improve their lives...you mock those who try to bring injustice to light. You demand scrutiny of the protesters, but how sure are you that your purchase was NOT produced under conditions no better than modern slavery.

He is a poor public speaker as it as more showboating than facts. He and his cult went to all the stores and while disrupting the stores he knew nothing of the products he mocked that comes from many parts of the world to actually sound logical for his attacks on each store. He doesn't know if the items in THAT store or any he visited is made in sweatshops but he knew it was a public place to be seen and could of set off a riot but the workers were trained well and he had no results.

I was there at the "World of Disney NYC" when they did this stupidity. While he and his group tried to disrupt the ongoings of the store the cast members was very professional and continued their high service even when they blocked the front registers they help the people with having back registers open keeping the lines moving and didn't get into a conflict I'm sure the group wanted. This group went and did the same for other stores on 5th ave. It's NYC so finding weird stuff is normal.
