Living outside "normal" hours can be bad for your body. A small research study of ten people showed that when their schedule was knocked out of whack, they quickly started showing symptoms that lead to diabetes. http://www.sciencentral.com/video/

  • Ten people is way to small of a study group to be accepted. However, speaking as a nurse who works 12+ hour night shifts, it does make you more prone to illness; there have been solid studies that have found night shift nurses are more prone to have cardiac problems, as well as increased cancer rates. My health has deteriorated since working nights; many others nurses would say the same. There are also nurses, who, for whatever reason, go from nights to days and report vastly improved health.

  • Need to let nightowls do the late night work.

  • problem is... most people set themselves up for failure... leave phones on...light bedrooms...no white noise... no a/c no heating,etc,etc... they DONT want to sleep. takes a mindset... it's easy if you let it.I work nights...all night.... EVERY person where i work does NOTHING to darken/quiet their rooms.and say...my phone woke me up !!

  • I work nights and go to sleep between 06 and 08 AM. I can sleep all day but I know that it´s not so healthy or good for the body to work nights.

  • They should find all those who love late night clubbing etc and make them work night shifts. Then the day lovers like myself will have more opportunities to work during the day

  • Don't let the bad video title fool you: the study is only about the SWITCH from day to night, you would get the same results if you were switching from night to day. They mention at the end that they haven't tested whether your body eventually adjusts to a cycle.

  • Great. Now my crappy graveyard shift is giving me diabetes.

  • Great finding.

  • I know what Gordon Freeman looks like... I'm a fan of the Half-Life Series, especially HL2.

  • This professor, there talking he reminds me of Gordon :)

Search for pics at google ... he really looks similar to him ;-)

  • ahhh people are killing themselves!!!

    so unhealthy.

    O____o
