its called Jersey fabric (cloth) its stretchy cotton but if you ask for jersey fabric they will know.

i have read in many places that the best fabric is cotton, or cotton/polyester, the width is about 35" or 86 cm and the length of the material some would suggets 2.5 yards and others says at least 5 yards.
