  • good afternoon, medicine never stops to amaze me, do you mind telling where are you from doctor?

  • @smpsell :-))) Thank you... We are teammates of a cardiovascular surgery department from İzmit province of Turkey, performing cardiovascular surgery procedures in a private hospital setting.

  • AWESOME!!!!!! Thank god to all the brilliant surgeons out there!!

  • @Dhemi4life :-)) thanks...

  • The steel wires are knotted and their tips are turned down, so that they would not hurt any soft tissue above them. But, despite this, rarely, some patients may have such complaints. Then we may remove the wire with a little operation using local anesthesia. The sternal bone heals in approximately two months' time. After that, there is no need for the sternal wires actually...

  • Thank you for your comment.

I close the sternum in a way, which can be called a modified Robiscek technique. All wires are No.6 Stainless Steel sutures.

  • So thankful that there are people out there capable of these things, because I could never do it.

  • Aaaand... how do you ensure the alignment of the bone? Just curious. :D

  • Does the wire pierce easily into the sternum? Or did you bore small holes in them prior to closing?

  • not a doctor but wont the knots u made with the wire pull of the this guy's meat and cause him pain

  • Electrocautery to stop bleeding of periost arteries....
