Story is simple follow the lyrics but in lamens terms:
Both Emily and Naomi are each others guardian angels, they both saved each other in different ways: Emily saved Naomi by her realizing that she can love someone and she's not lonely anymore, Naomi saved Emily by her figuring herself out instead of being her sisters shadow.
