As I understand it, Ben Burtt says the sound of a TIE fighter is the cry of an elephant added with the sound of cars driving through rain. It's actually the cry of a young elephant. Perry Mason episode: "The case of the cowardly lion." it's also used in the movie "Deathsport" and in the Tv cartoon series: "Dragonflys" among other shows as it is not a new effect. I just want to reproduce it for myself.
