"YOUR MAMA DON'T MIND" (1978)
Written by - Brock, Corby, Stocker & Waite

The song was written by all four of us in the original band and was originally recorded for the band's third Chrysalis album, Head First.

Chrysalis Records insisted on the removal of this track from the album, along with our recording of 'Money', 'World In A Bottle' and a couple of other songs on the basis that they were useless tracks and although I didn't write 'Money' or 'World In A Bottle' I was apparently to be personally held to blame for how bad these tracks were. This was actually told to me by Elliot Roberts of Lookout Management on the afternoon of August the 28th 1978 in the presence of Tony Brock, Walt Stocker and John Waite as I was summarily dismissed from the band that I had once founded.

Judge it for yourselves. I make no apologies for my work in this band and as regards my performance, I plead guilty, as charged.

Habitually yours,

always

MC

  • In hindsight Mike, Chrysalis were more than just a little narrow minded. Unfortunately it wasn;t only yourself, but the whole listening public that suffered from their poor decisions.

  • Cant believe the co. didnt like this one. It was perfect for the time, and still great.

  • Good stuff!

  • The Corby got all the girls!!! He is a legend... They counted him out but they were mistaken!! His music today it unF--ng believable! Too bad we won't get to hear it!! He is a musician beyond belief HE should at least be producing!! HE put the Babys together with the late GREAT Adrian Millar and knows how to structure a band... If I was in a young band that was REALLY good and wanted to break the big time I would be pleading with him.. He is an honorable man too!!

  • Michael Corby was the backbone of this band...and he got the girls!!

  • Mr Corby, Thanks so much for your work ,it has brought lots of joy since I first heard the Babys back in the 4th grade! Still listen daily after 33 yrs " Still gives the same feeling today as the songs did then" A true testament to real music!!!! Not the so called music of today "Rubbish" would be too kind to call it !! Really wish there could be a reunion I know chances are slim but I will still pray for it. The Babys will play daily in N, Carolina as long as im around ... Jeff

  • Superb!!

  • Wow! This cheered me up. Thanks Snowchild.

Yes it was recorded for Head First but was removed along with World In A Bottle & Money, amongst others, at the demands of the CEO of Chrysalis Records Inc, on the basis that these tracks were rubbish & it was all Michael Corby's fault. These details were made clear to me at my removal from the band on Aug 28th '78. I personally found the removal of these tracks to be ludicrously misjudged. Mind you, what would I know about music?
