in my experience "no homo" has always been something a straight dude says to another straight guy if he does something that might seem gay to reassure the dude and any onlookers that he's not coming on to him. ive never heard it being used in an attempt to fend off gay dudes

No homo is only used when the person using the phrase does or says something extremely gay or something that may seem gay and they want to clarify that they're not gay. Like if I said ''Yo bro, you look hella nice in them jeans. No Homo" or if I slapped another man on the ass the Phrase "No homo" would follow suit.

I still see no point in saying "No homo", less I'm missing something, I don't know what goes on in people's mind so I cannot say whether or not it is pure paranoia, homophobic feelings- something. There is no point in saying "No homo", at least, there is no LEGITIMATE reason because honestly, who cares so much about your sexuality that you need to state "What I said does not mean I'm gay."
Saying "No homo" is just a distraction and is completely random and irrelevant.
