  • The Catholics only studies the life of Christ but is the word "Catholic" is in the bible? i'am a catholic but i believe in my friend who is much more smarter than the pope because the witnesses are smarter than the pope

  • @cjbaynas The word Trinity is not in the bible, but is biblical. The word "Catholic" was first used to describe the universal Church as far back as the first century of Christianity. Catholics Follow the word of God through Sacred Scripture and his only Church. In fact most don't realize how actually intelligent the Pope is. JW's are great people, but misled by false doctrines.

  • @CatholicApologia actually the word catholic is in the bible. It was in one of the epistles. Ill look it up.

  • @havock89 Thank you. I believe though the earliest occurrence of the term is in a letter of St. Ignatius of Antioch, written 20 years after the last book of the New Testament.

  • The simple fact is that the JW Hermeneutics of the Sacred Scripture is flawed due the lack of credible translators. This begs the question which came first the inept hermeneutics which gave rise to a flawed exegesis and theology or did the theology of the JW's drive the deficient exegesis and influence the attempt at the translation? No educated person can for one microsecond take seriously the JW bible. translation of John 1:1-14

  • @havock89 it was claimed by my friend (who is a JW) that the word catholic is not on the bible

  • In my language we call Peter Petros as well, and rock kepah, my language which is Chaldean is descendant from Aramaic, i am from Iraq by the way :).

  • @CatholicApologia Yes, that reference was to the Catholic church. However in the epistles the church is referred to as a "universal body" which was written in the original koine greek as Kata holos. It is definately there and does answer the claim that the word catholic is in the bible.

God bless you and your family - and have a merry Christmass.

  • @BeingBob No problem, thanks for watching Bob!

  • @CatholicApologia Thanks. I'm going to check out some of his stuff.

  • @cjbaynas Have you read anything written by the Pope? We are very fortunate to have such a well educated and intelligent Pope in Benedict XVI, who also happens to be a Scripture scholar.
