On June 2, 2009, the 200th execution in Texas during the governorship of Rick Perry was carried out. The execution was one day after the end of the 2009 Texas legislative session during which Rick Perry killed a bill that would have ended the death penalty for people who do not kill anyone but are convicted under the Law of Parties. He threatened to veto the bill which forced the sponsor to remove the Law of Parties provision.
