Katadyn Base Camp Microfilter

The Katadyn Base Camp Microfilter is the ultimate water treatment device for backpackers and campers. The Base Camp is designed to be filled with water an suspended so that gravity does all of the work. You sit in the shade and let the Base Camp fill your bottles. I have used this filter dozens of times, it has never failed me and I absolutely love it. At just 13 ounces, the Base Camp gives you a stunning 2.5 gallon capacity. There is no better water filter on the market in my opinion.

I'd love to have one of these. Last time I went out & didn't take enough water, I had to spend a good bit of my evening boiling water. What a pain!

@rileyphillip I think this will be perfect for your family. You can fill the bag with water, hang it from a tree and then you and your family will have 2 gallons of water available to you. You don't have to stumble back and forth to the water source in the darkness which usually involves the risks of twisting an ankle, slipping in, etc. This is probably my favorite piece of camping gear. Whenever I take friends out, they all say they must have one. Thanks for the comment friend!

@PuffingWind FANTASTIC! We swear by them. You will see that for the same amount of weight, and possibly less, than a standard filter, you will have a 2 gallon capacity. Please let me know how you like it after you've tried it out.

@PuffingWind No but it collapses perfectly into the pocket to the rear of my backpack. If you buy one, you will love it and will never go with another filter. Thanks for the email

@enjoythewildUSA I think the nicest part would be not having to carry out a whole family worth of water. I didn't mind (too much) all the boiling, but it would have been nice to kick back & enjoy myself a little more.

I bought mine at REI. You can get them on the net as well. Amazon probably has them. I would also check with Real Cheap Sports in Ventura. They carry some good equipment.
