Sue Keller's live ragtime piano performance Saturday night, March 15, 2008 at the Scott Joplin House in St. Louis, Missouri. The piece is Ragtime Nightingale by composer Joseph Lamb.

Sue considers herself lucky to be a close friend of the composer's family and to have been able to hear how he played numerous of his compositions. For those interested, here's a link to some samples of an album given to Sue by Joe's daughter, Patricia, which was recorded in her living room in Brooklyn, NY in 1959, a copy of which also now resides at the Smithsonian:

  • Sue indeed plays this piece quite a bit differently than the composer did. I've updated the info block on this video to include a link for those interested in hearing how Joe Lamb actually played it.

  • @pianomike1 yeah, also Bohemia rag, Sue mentioned John Arpin when she performed it a while back, but personally I can't decide which is better, I love them both, one isn't 'better' than the other, they're just 'different' if you know what I mean, two different styles but to me they both sound brilliant in their own way.

  • I admire your touch to ragtime.

  • I liked this speed, it was slow enough to hear and enjoy every note, but fast enough to keep it going.

  • Sue Keller just won an award yesterday for her contributions to popularizing ragtime.

  • that was beautiful sue

  • Sue is OK, but listen to the late John Arpin's version to get the message.

  • - want to play

  • I want to this music. How can i have sheet music?
