What if the pattern doesnt tell you if its a make one right or make one left?

@TheRandomites1234 - It does not really matter if the pattern does not specify. You can choose one but just be consistent throughout your project. Generally what you would do is use one consistently on one side of your knitting and then the opposite increase on the other side of your knitting. It does not matter which is which, just be consistent. I generally use a m1l on the right side and a m1r on the left side.

That just means that you will perform a m1 increase in each of the next 4 stitches.
