Located on the northeastern edge of Indiana University's Bloomington Campus, Ashton's traditional dormitory-style housing will be replaced with interactive apartment style housing. The apartments will be a mix of four-bedroom and
two-bedroom units arranged in four- story buildings. Working with campus architects and planners, several campus locations were studied. RATIO then developed the Ashton site plan creating a "village" atmosphere with clusters of buildings forming university quadrangles, reinforcing a sense of community. The existing stream transverses the site, and the design highlights and improves this natural water feature in a residential scale.
