This film has been made to document the events of Simchat Torah (the holiday celebrating the Torah) of 2007 in Sderot, Israel. 2007 was a particularly important Simchat Torah for the congregation of Ohel Yizak synagogue in Sderot as it welcomed in a new Torah scroll, the holiest testament in Judaism.

Only 20 minutes after the celebrations had finished the only too familiar sound of the "Tzeva Adom" siren rang out heralding the impending 15 second arrival of a Kassam Missile. The rocket hit the synagogue directly, the people celebrating were saved again only out of luck or a miracle.

After the rocket devastated the synagogue and its congregation a shelter was built, but in order to reach it the people praying inside the synagogue must run exposed outside and into the shelter, making it impossible for people to attend prays with a feeling of security.

We there for request that people help the congregation of Ohel Yitzak, to be able to worship peacefully and without anxiety. All that is needed to for a connection from the synagogue to the bomb shelter to be built, to help achieve that please contact : 00972 57 59 70 23 9 or sdahan@thecknet.co.il

Thank you.

  • This horror must stop somehow. I pray that the people of Sderot will one day be able to live without constant fear.
