  • Are these amateur races, or is this your job?

  • @jamesadams117 Not my job. I wouldn't want to be a pro cyclist. And editing the clips isn't my job, but I'd do that if I could (my HD clips typically represent 20-25+ hours of editing time, the non-HD ones 10-15+ hours - the early ones were 2-3-4 hours apiece).

Cat 3 means a mid-level racer. Known as a "working man's class", i.e. you can hold a full time job, have family, and still race Cat 3s.

You can win money, but nowhere near enough to pay for all the bike stuff.

  • I'm guessing those speed bars are legal. That's pretty cool though, I didn't no they existed.

Also, do you use iMovie to make your videos? If so, do you have to convert the .m4v file before posting it to Youtube?

  • @ptle Speed bars - First thing I did after I registered that day was to verify they'd be legal. I normally don't use them since I stink at solo efforts, but if my legs start coming around I put them on. I prefer the Scott Rakes but if I wrap my fingers around the bar my fingers jam between the Rakes and the front tire. I don't want to flip over the bars suddenly.

iMovie, yes. "Share" as a .mov file, then upload. The HD clips are 650-800 MB each.

  • i thought you were going to make about your bike and gear??

  • @fraserweere Haven't had time at this point. I hope to do it soon.

  • what kind of bike did you start out on? I've been riding on shimano sora (lowest end) components since I was a junior but finally got a bike with sram rival through out. I'm too out of shape to really get the full benefit of riding it so I'm getting my legs back using my slow bike. you guys look like you're pretty comfy during your races while flying. how hard are you pushing just sitting in the pack? on my bike I feel like I'm maxxing even slipstreaming at 25 and if someone accelerates i'm done

  • keep up the videos!
