Grand Prix supporters have claimed the event will pump anywhere from $50 million to $100 million into Baltimore's economy, with as much as $6 million a year accruing to the city's coffers through increased tax and fee revenue. More recent estimates are more modest, but a noted economist who specializes in major sports events says even the smaller figures are optimistic, given what he's found at other events.
