This song describes the arrival of the one god's religion as seen through the eyes of an anonymous village dweller. Typically, a priest arrives and speaks of the one god. This incurs the wrath of the villagers, who are true to their gods and chase the priest away. Sooner or later, the priest returns, backed by soldiers, to force scripture's lies on the people. Also typical is that a king is the driving force behind the conversion process. The one god lie was never readily accepted by ordinary people anywhere, but always forced upon them by corrupt rulers who recognized the new religion as a powerful tool for oppression.
