Arden and Peyton led the traditional Moravian Christmas carol, Morning Star, at Moravian Christmas Eve Love Feast this year. The tradition of the Love Feast was revived in the Moravian Church in 1727 and brought to North America in the 1740's.

  • Lovely, You have a lovely tradition. I descend from Hussites that came to Texas and the midwest 150 years after Zinzendorf brought the Brethren to Pa. and N.C.. Our church doesn't have the heavily German traditions the Brethren in the eastern US developed since we remained a Slavic people until coming to the US and still carry many of our Czech ways to this day.

  • Just Wonderful! I perform Christmas music at Mount Vernon and do two Moravian hymns. It's such beautiful music and I love being able to introduce it to new listeners. It will be nice to refer them to this video so they can hear it in context.

  • This video is lovely, I can almost smell the beeswax candles burning mixed with the aroma's of the hot coffee and sweet love feast buns. Brings back memories when I sang my Morning Star solo for the Graceham Moravian Church. I still have my traditional Haube (cap) with its red ribbon tucked away in my Hope Chest. The traditional Moravian Christmas Eve service is in my opinion the most beautiful Christmas service there is.

  • @gwolb Sorry I spelled Huabe wrong...I wore a traditional Huabe trimmed in red ribbon not Hubba...sounds like I had Hubba-Bubba gum on my head...lol.

  • Thank you for this, I moved away from home five years ago and I'm trying to find as much Moravian hymns and music as I can on youtube. I'm still looking for a playing of Melody 185. Thanks for bringing happy tears to my eyes.

  • Lovely. My mother led this hymn at Emmaus Moravian 60 years ago. I'll watch this in her memory.

  • I am Moravian and I didn't get to go to the service at my church this year. Thanks!

  • I grew up in a Moravian Church too. I so wanted to hear this song (had to sing it as a kid several times). I loved Christmas Eve as well. Recently I made Moravian Sugar Cake. Thanks for posting this video.

  • I grew up Moravian! Thank you for posting this ... Morning Star was my favorite part of the Christmas Eve service...... well, after the sugar cake, that is. :)
