Was wondering if the mother would have jumped onto the track already to save her baby if the train had just pulled in just a few seconds later.
So, this surely was a lesson for the mother and not meant to kill her or her baby.

Yeah, that's true. But you can't hitch up your jeans and leave your baby alone at the EXACT time the train is coming to the station.
