The assembled in Phil Hares' garden asked him to play some Abba. So, after reasoning that this wasn't another mandolin tuning, Phil remembered being 14 again and jammed out a version of 'Dancing Queen'. Still the buggers couldn't be bothered to clap. They don't make garden parties like this now!
Please see the newer 'Dancing Queen' (2009) it's much better than this!

  • Thanks. Check out the fact that I 'ironically' re-recorded this again recently (with the carsie next to me!) and it's better than this!

    Cheers

  • no it aint, bits of this are brilliant....but you can tell its not been polished.i think it is a great version...am gonna try and learn...any useful tips? and cheers!

  • Hiya,

When I/we first started putting videos on here, we were just filming improvised 'socials', so there was some rough and ready stuff. That was why I did this again! All I can say with this is that I am palying a kind of double-shuffle with my index finger and thumb between the dropped D bass and the D string. A lot of the activity is on the bottom three strings with the melody threaded between the top two strings and a moving bass. I could do a tab if you fancy? Cheers Phil

    Well done my friend ! ! !

  • @batterseaspark thanks for the reply phil, a tab would be brilliant....its difficult/slow working out individual style of play and arrangement [it is for me]. if i had tab i would hope to have this polished nicely by the summer....i love this arrangement.....if you send the tab i promise it will be my first youtube video....once again thanks alot and good luck.
